Santa Monica Seafood Taps Krusinski Construction for Another Fast-Track Interior Renovation Project in California

August 06, 2026

Krusinski Construction Company (KCC) has begun a 13,000-SF interior renovation project for a long-time, repeat client, Santa Monica Seafood (SMS), one of the largest fresh and frozen seafood distributors in the United States. Located in Rancho Dominguez, California, the occupied facility plays a critical role in SMS’s operations, packaging and distributing seafood to customers in more than 40 states nationwide.

This fast-track project begins with partial demolition of the existing facility to accommodate a revitalized 9,000 SF of warehouse space to support the growth and expansion of their packaging, box making, storage and distribution area. Within the warehouse space, a new 4,000-SF temperature-controlled cooler—holding temps at 35°F—will be installed, including packaging lines, ambient rooms, and high-performance refrigeration equipment with insulated doors.

Critical warehouse improvements include installing insulated metal panel (IMP) walls and ceiling systems, refrigeration infrastructure, redesigning the Fire Protection System and sprinklers, HVAC modifications and electrical upgrades. Each SMS facility needs to meet specific requirements for electrical power, water service and installation of specialized food processing and preparation equipment. Throughout the duration of this project, the KCC team will be completing the scope while maintaining ongoing facility operations.

“Krusinski’s ability to support Santa Monica Seafood’s growing operations is a testament to our strong partnership with the SMS team and the trust they have placed in us to deliver their new space efficiently, safely and with innovation in mind,” said Andy Johnson, Executive Vice President at KCC.

The Rancho Dominguez project adds to the portfolio of Krusinski’s national reach and ability to build for tenants with multiple locations, especially in the food & beverage industry.

Santa Monica Seafood is one of the largest fresh and frozen seafood distributors in the United States, and these enhancements will drastically improve efficiency for SMS’s operations. Krusinski has extensive experience managing projects within occupied facilities to ensure the SMS staff goes uninterrupted.

Following the strategic project schedule, the Rancho Dominguez facility is set to be fully operational by October 2026.

Members of the project team include Greg Krucek, Senior Project Manager; Gama Cruz, Project Engineer; Michael Adebayo, Project Superintendent; and Angie Mojica, Project Coordinator. Design Group Facility Solutions serves as the project architect and structural engineer.
