Krusinski Delivers 13,000-SF Expansion Project for Santa Monica Seafood’s Rancho Dominguez Facility

October 28, 2026

Krusinski Construction Company (KCC) has completed a 13,000-SF interior renovation for long-time repeat client Santa Monica Seafood (SMS), one of the largest fresh and frozen seafood distributors in the United States. Located in Rancho Dominguez, California, the expansion supports Santa Monica Seafood’s continued growth, increasing its capacity to package, store and distribute seafood products to customers in more than 40 states nationwide.

The fast-track renovation included reconfiguration of 9,000 SF of warehouse space to support expanded packaging, box-making, storage and distribution operations. A new 4,000-SF temperature-controlled cooler, maintained at 35°F, was added to house packaging lines, ambient rooms and specialized refrigeration equipment.

“Our relationship with Krusinski has continued to grow with each project we’ve completed together. Their commitment to safety, efficiency and innovative thinking has made them a trusted partner no matter the location,” said Fernando Gonzalez, Vice President of Asset Management at SMS.

The Rancho Dominguez expansion marks KCC’s fourth project for Santa Monica Seafood and highlights the company’s ability to deliver consistent construction solutions for clients with multi-location operations nationwide.

Santa Monica Seafood is one of the largest fresh and frozen seafood distributors in the United States, and these enhancements will drastically improve efficiency for SMS’s operations. Krusinski has extensive experience managing projects within occupied facilities which ensured that the SMS staff was not interrupted

Additional critical warehouse improvements included installing insulated metal panel (IMP) walls and ceiling systems, refrigeration infrastructure, redesigning the Fire Protection System and sprinklers, HVAC modifications and electrical upgrades. Each SMS facility needs to meet specific requirements for electrical power, water service and installation of specialized food processing and preparation equipment. Throughout the duration of this project, the KCC team completed the scope while maintaining ongoing facility operations.

Members of the project team include Greg Krucek, Senior Project Manager; Gama Cruz, Project Engineer; Michael Adebayo, Project Superintendent; and Angie Mojica, Project Coordinator. Design Group Facility Solutions serves as the project architect and structural engineer.
