Lab Remodel Begins at Premier Chicagoland Healthcare Provider Hospital

September 10, 2025

Oak Brook, Illinois – Krusinski Construction Company recently began the renovation of a 1,087-SF lab remodel in an active wing of a premier Chicagoland healthcare provider’s hospital in Sandwich, Illinois. The project includes the temporary containment and demolition of the existing Obstetrics unit and construction of the new Phlebotomy unit and retrofitting of the surrounding area of the hospital.

Additional work to the exterior of the building includes the replacement of an existing rooftop unit (RTU) to serve the new facility’s lab spaces. All work is being completed in an occupied, active hospital under the supervision of KCC’s on-site superintendent to ensure a safe building experience for all visitors and workers.

“We’re excited to continue our work with this repeat healthcare client and complete another project that directly supports their vision of providing functional spaces for their growing operations and patient volume,” said Rich Melone, Project Executive.

This project marks the second of two contracts awarded to KCC by this client and we are thrilled to strengthen our repeat client relationship in the healthcare sector. As a Trusted Advisor, we are committed to delivering high-quality, efficient and safe spaces that meet the needs of both patients and staff.
