AMB PROPERTY CORP AWARDS BAX GLOBAL TO KRUSINSKI

Krusinski Construction Company has received a $12 million contract from AMB Property Corporation to build two buildings, totaling 228,000 square feet at 1355 Mt. Prospect Road in Des Plaines, Ill.

AMB will lease the buildings to BAX Global Logistics, a supply chain and transportations solutions company, which will use the 152,000-square-foot facility for international distribution and the 76,000-square-foot building for domestic distribution.

Krusinski will construct the two buildings simultaneously. The site was recently cleared of an existing facility, and Krusinski will complete all site work, including reengineering the existing utilities.

According to Michael J. Metz, project executive, the company also will extend Roxbury Ct, which currently dead ends near the site, and install a storm trap system underneath the parking lot.

Krusinski also will add some special features to the buildings, including interior guardrails, fencing and customs security requirements.

The buildings will be located on 13.19 acres with parking for 266 cars. The domestic facility will have 48 exterior docks and two drive-in doors, while the international facility will have 33 exterior docks and one drive-in door. Completion of the project is anticipated for December.

Ralph Colmenares is the senior project superintendent for Krusinski. The architect is Julius Kwasek of Inverness-based Kwasek Architects.
