LEED CERTIFIED BUILDING AWARDED TO KRUSINSKI CONSTRUCTION

Krusinski Construction Company has received a $18+ million contract to build a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified 416,000-square-foot distribution and office facility at the southwest corner of Diehl and County Line roads in Aurora, Ill.

The building will include 35,000 square feet of office, 380,000 square feet of warehouse space, including a 62,000 s.f. mezzanine, as well as 240 parking spaces and 24 interior docks. The 21-acre site allows for a 100,000-square-foot future expansion.

Krusinski broke ground on the project in September, and expects to have the building completed in July 2008, according to Michael J. Metz, vice president.

As a LEED facility, the project has been designed to minimize its environmental impact and maximizes energy efficiency. Krusinski will work with Rebecca Franke of Sieben Energy Associates, a consultant specializing in LEED to meet certification requirements. The building will feature special parking for fuel-efficient cars and bicycles, as well as high efficiency lighting and HVAC systems, including a rainwater collection system to supplement the domestic water service system.

Dan Gratzl is the project superintendent and Dominic Valvano is Krusinski’s project engineer. Kiley Green of Georgia-based Randall-Paulson Architects is the architect and Andy Heinen of V3 Consultants is the civil engineer.
