May - 2007BLUE ISLAND RETAIL CENTER COMPLETED Krusinski Construction Company recently completed a 17,800-square-foot retail center for Blue Island Retail Venture, LLC at the southwest corner of 122nd Street and Western Avenue in
Blue Island, Ill.
Located on approximately one acre, the one-story retail center will house up to 15 tenants, including a 3,500-square-foot Dental Dreams store and a 1,100-square-foot Advance America. The space was previously occupied by two car dealerships and auto repair shops, which were demolished before construction began.
The project began in September with asbestos abatement and utility disconnection. Krusinski then completed the core and shell build-out, adding three separate 800-amp electrical services and gas meters. The exterior of the center features a combination of EIFS (exterior insulation and finish systems) accent bands and split-face concrete block. The retail center has parking for 74 cars.
Michael J. Metz was the project executive for Krusinski Construction Company. Stephen Stephen A. Moeller was the project manager, and Tim Bereza was the superintendent. The architects were Jeremy Hall and Ann Norman of Deerfield-based Partners in Design. The project was developed by Joseph Y. Chang of ICON Real Estate.
