IAC AWARDS TWO PROJECTS TO KRUSINSKI

Krusinski Construction Company has received two contracts totaling more than $9 million from International Airport Centers (IAC) for freight forwarding facilities in Elmhurst, Ill., and Des Plaines, Ill.

The first project at 1000 County Line Rd. in Elmhurst calls for a 248,748-square-foot spec building. The facility will be located on 23.79 acres and will have 54 exterior docks, two drive-in doors and parking for 242 cars. IAC plans to lease the building to an air cargo company.

To access the site, Krusinski will add a temporary bridge over Bensenville Creek, with the support of the Kane-DuPage County Soil & Water Conservation Districts. Krusinski plans to install a silt fence to conserve wetland, and will create additional wetland areas on the 23-acre property.

The company expects to break ground in May, and have the project completed in October.

Michael J. Metz is the project manager for Krusinski. Ralph Colmenares will serve as the senior project superintendent, and the architect is Julius Kwasek of Inverness-based Kwasek Architects.

The second project at 300 E. Touhy Ave. in Elk Grove Village, calls for Krusinski to demolish a 66,000-square-foot industrial building. Future use of the property has not been determined.

Andrew J. Johnson is the project manager, and Colmenares is the senior project superintendent. The engineer is Jamie Putnam of Jacob & Hefner in Oakbrook Terrace.

Krusinski previously completed a 40,300-square-foot warehouse distribution center for IAC in Elk Grove Village, Ill., which was leased to Select Carrier Group.
