Comcast - Fishers, IN
When a Schedule Goes off Track, Flexibility is theSituation: Comcast Cable Communications, the county’s largest provider of cable services, hired Krusinski Construction Company in November 2006 to complete an interior build-out for a 50,000-square-foot call center in Fishers, Ind. Challenge: The center needed to be operational by April, six months after construction began. To achieve this deadline, Krusinski created a detailed schedule with weekly coordination meetings. In February, more than halfway through the project schedule, the Krusinski team received news that 121 workstations for one of the call center’s main office areas had been delayed, and would arrive more than one month late. Solution: Instead of losing valuable time, Krusinski adjusted the schedule, and concentrated its efforts on the center’s other office areas. When the furniture arrived at the end of March, electricians worked overtime to get the workstations wired to the center’s data line. Results: The furniture delay did not add to the construction schedule, and Comcast employees were able to move into the call center in late April. |
