Genesis Technologies
New Headquarters is a Hit with EmployeesSituation: Genesis Technologies hired Krusinski Construction Company to help create a new corporate headquarters for this privately held company, which provides service and supplies for laser printers and laser fax machines. Genesis purchased a 40-year-old brick industrial building in Northbrook, not far from its previous location. The renovation called for demolishing and renovating the interior, upgrading the sprinkler system and fire alarm system, redoing the roof and giving the exterior a major face lift. Challenge: The owner says his biggest issue in planning the new facility was keeping his employees happy. He wanted an environment that would reflect that philosophy. Solution: The entire facility was painted in warm tones of taupe, blue and grey – a far cry from the cold, “techie” look of most industrial companies. The deluxe break room was fitted with granite counters and upgraded appliances, and the offices feature a metal drop ceiling and pendant lighting. The final grace notes are a locker room and fitness center, where a Pilates instructor comes in once a week. Results: Genesis owner Michael Kahn says that many of his employees have personally thanked him for the new offices and warehouse. The building also has made a positive impression on prospective employees. |
